Committee Updates
Marketing: Dave Agricola and Robin Thomas distributed the brochure designed by Pink Ink that will be available in all Glendale Businesses and surrounding communities. The brochure includes a map that outlines the 3 Glendale business districts and the names and category that describes the business/organization. Also included, is an address, phone and website of each participating business/organization.
Gail can upload any website to the Chamber’s website.
Big thanks and praise to Robin, Dave and all that worked on the brochure.
Dave reported that the sign package chosen by the Village is presently awaiting bids and he will report back with a timeline when the contract has been given.
The sign package will include 10 new signs with signage at Willow and Sharon and at the Municipal parking lot to be lighted.
Donna also reported on the new banners that are being proposed for the business areas and how utility poles will be used to display cutting the cost significantly.
Robin suggested that the chamber consider forming a subcommittee to pursue joint business promotions. Advertising can be for fewer dollars if we look at joining forces and setting up promotions as a group. There will be further consideration and exploration of this possibility.
Christmas in the Square: This year’s event will be held on December 2, from 5-8.
Sherri Kohlne, chair, reported that she is arranging to have choirs and other forms of live music throughout the evening. There will also be fire barrels throughout the square and the girl scouts will be selling “smores” kits to use at the barrels. Also, she has arranged for Clovernook Home for the Blind to prepare and distribute hot cider at no charge. GHP will provide hot chocolate and cookies and Santa will again arrive by fire truck. Posters are being made and distributed throughout and other notices are being considered so that the residents are aware of the evening’s events.
The businesses are also considering joint fundraisers to encourage participation by the community.
Big thanks to Sherri for all her amazing efforts. Further updates will follow.
This year’s theme is “Celebrating our Children”
Membership: Gail reported that membership stands at 40. She also handed out the handsome new mugs that all members will receive. Great job!
Gail reported that there will be a Training luncheon held at the Iron Horse on October 29. The speaker will present the latest information on social networking and how to use to enhance your business.
General: Robin reported on a Wine and Beer Festival being planned. John Smith suggested the Chamber continue to pursue business after hours. Donna reported about an upcoming international Equestrian Event to happen in Lexington and how we might like to see how we could benefit through day trips etc.
