General Meeting June 16, 2010 Train Depot

Treasurer’s Report
Donna reported that we currently have $7,063.17 in checking and $2,922.91 in savings.
General Announcements and Updates
Gail opened meeting by welcoming new member Calista B and its owner Calsita Bockenstette. Calista B is a consignment store located in the square. The shop specializes in furniture and home accessories. Calista welcomes all members to visit and she looks forward to meeting all the members as well.
Street Banners Gail updated the members on the final plans and presentation of the banners that will be mounted at Congress and Sharon Rd., Coral and Congress and Sharon Rd in the business district. There will be a total of 14 banners. The Village is willing to share in the cost and installation of the banners. The approximate total cost will be $4000. Gail called for a vote to approve the $2000 that will be funded by the chamber. The funding was approved by the members present.
Street Fair
Janet Lawson updated the Chamber on her progress with the planning of the street fair. Music groups are being booked and hopes are for variety Janet emphasized her desire to provide quality and diversity to appeal to many interests. There will be a change to the layout of this year’s fair. The new footprint is being used to attempt to allow for the storefronts in the square to have greater visibility. The horse and carriage rides will return The Street Fair is scheduled for Saturday, September 25th. The hours will be 10-7
Economic Development
Catherine announced preliminary plans for “Wednesdays in the Square”. The chamber will be working with HWB to pair their summer concerts with the businesses. Businesses choosing to may remain open before and during the concerts. The venue will be moved from the HWB grounds to the front of the Depot. It is hoped that the first joint event will begin in August on the 4th. Further details are in the making. The businesses are not being asked to remain open. It is strictly voluntary. Jenny Dennis, Bluebird, hopes to offer Madisino’s Gelato by the scoop and box lunches that can be ordered in advance may also be part of the event should other restaurants wish to participate. This is far from formalized and chamber members will be kept informed as plans develop.
Catherine discussed her recent meetings and contacts regarding the Landmark property. She will continue to pursue and address the possibilities of developing the area.
Village Update
Wally Cordes reviewed upcoming changes or interruptions in traffic. Specifically, Morris Rd. to the Tracks will be getting new curbs and paving beginning June 24.
Also, he indicated that the streetscape project is currently out for bid and he will let us know who the contractor and the schedule will be as he is informed.
Wally also announced that the Gaslight Café building is under contract. The building is going to be extensively renovated and will remain a restaurant.
