President John Smith called the meeting to order at 8:35am. First agenda topic for discussion: setting the date for the Glendale Street Fair. The following dates were asked to be avoided: 9.13 for the Taste of Springdale and The First Presbyterian church of Glendale Golf outing in September. The dates for Sharonville, Blue Ash and Evendale community events will also be considered. The date of September 27th was voiced as a possible fair day; citing that the previous year’s fair was held too early in the year making the hot humid temperature a factor in this year’s scheduling. Aligning the Street Fair with the Bob Ronker 5K Run was also voiced. Paul Breidenbach was praised for his efforts organizing last year’s street fair. The Glendale Car Show was the second point on the agenda. Greater chamber involvement is needed to help promote the show. The question was left for further discussion as how to best advertise the event, which sponsors Glendale Youth Sports. The Marketing of Glendale was offered as the next topic of discussion by chamber President John Smith. A dialogue with the 2000 plan author Frank Russell was discussed. John informed the chamber of the $500,000.00 transportation enhancement grant that will be filed with the state once the plans can be completed. Steve Dinnerstein has been in contact with plan designer Joe Hubbard. John presented the current drawings to the members. The current plan would widen the sidewalks in the village, improve upon the existing elements in the square and offer a flow of traffic through the municipal parking lot next to the Running Spot. Several possible improvements to traffic flow in the village square were presented by Donna Wesselman. The topic is open for further discussion. Ralph Hoop announced the placement of a sign on the highway announcing Glendale’s historic significance. He also discussed plans to place an outdoor map of the village along the south side of the depot. Ideas for increasing the destination draw of the village was the final topic for discussion. The Milford and Loveland business districts were cited for there efforts in increasing the popularity of their respective communities. Chamber President John Smith summarized that it is important to keep momentum for the support and marketing of the Village going. Email correspondence will be sent with the time, place and date of the next Chamber meeting.
