General Announcements and Updates
Street Fair
Meeting opened with a general discussion of the recently held Wine, Beer and Food Festival. Consensus was that attendance was wonderful. The police department estimate was 5,000 over the 3 days. Many businesses had strong sales on Friday evening and Saturday. Some businesses saw little difference in their days and some a decrease. Food vendors seemed pleased overall and seemed interested in coming back.
Concerns for consideration were:
Decreasing the number of hours or days of the festival requested. Also, having adequate volunteers who are given detailed education and ongoing support throughout the event was emphasized. Food choices and the portion sizes Reconfiguring the layout of the booths and entertainment so that existing businesses will be better seen and shopped by the crowd More music variety Looking for more quality in nonfood/drink booths Consider a new approach to management and begin planning for coming year immediately Better communication to business owners in Glendale especially to those in the square and on Sharon Improving accounting and flow of cash Signage
In conclusion, everyone wants to see this event continue yearly.
