General Announcements and Updates
Meeting opened by Gail and by asking Janet Lawson, Street Fair 2010 chair, to report on current news.
Janet reported that to date she has 3 booths purchased, the village will sponsor a live band, and a DJ has been booked. She is actively seeking volunteers, as well as working on a schedule and promotions.
You can find an application on line through the Glendale website www.glendaleohiochamber.com Street Fair will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010.
Joe Hubbard reported on the Streetscape project. The timeline is still uncertain and he is keeping in touch with ODOT to continue to encourage the process.
Joe also reported that the new business signs done by the village should be going up in the near future.
Gail updated her progress on the on line Chamber newsletter. Pink Ink has generously offered to design and create the quarterly edition with input provided by Gail and members. The newsletter should be emailed within the next week. She would appreciate any input or suggestions for future newsletters.
Gail addressed the way the Chamber and businesses will be featured in the soon to be available Glendale Directory.
Chuck Day, Running Spot, has now put the Glendale Chamber on Facebook. He also explained how individual businesses can take advantage of this feature offering his services and expertise should anyone need assistance.
Committee Updates
Economic Development
Catherine Fitzgerald updated the chamber. There is a new business opening on Sharon Rd. across from St. Gabriel School. The focus will be candy and candy bouquets.
Catherine and Wally Cordes have met with Landmark Church to discuss future projects regarding the availability of property.
Food and Wine Festival
Hague Atkinson of by Design Productions reviewed the current status of the event to be held May 14, 15, & 16, 2010 in the square. The Village will serve as sponsor.
General discussion followed regarding the type of booth sponsors that are being considered. And if Glendale businesses can be consulted so that outside conflicting business will be kept to a minimum. General consensus expressed a desire for an upscale, juried participant to be sought to give a different feel and scope then that generally seen at the Street Fair.
There will be a reduced rate offered to Chamber members and a business may buy space outside their business should they not want to have a booth directly in front of their shop/business.
Questions regarding the Festival can be directed to Hague at 877-825-6402.
Dave Agricola, Agricola Design and Village Gift Shop, with Gail’s assistance have generously offered their time and expertise to gather volunteers to help during the three day event. Anyone who is willing to lend a hand, please contact Dave as soon as possible.
Dogs of Glendale
Sherri Kohnle reintroduced this concept with the idea of possible launching the event in June. There was much enthusiasm for the idea. Susan Kreuzmann offered to assist.
