The meeting was held at the Glendale Heritage Preservation Museum located at #44 Village Square.
Attending members: President John Smith, Board Members Susan Kreuzmann and Treasurer Donna Wesselman, Glendale Council members: Jenny Kilgore and Debbie Grueninger, Ralph Hoop and Jack Buescher representing The Glendale Heritage Preservation Society, Street Fair Coordinator Gail Denice, Chamber Members Diane Meyer, Georgia Ricci, Kathleen Kissing and Sherri Kohnle, new member Meagan Gresham representing Maple Knoll Village and Chamber Secretary Melissa Wood.
President John Smith called the meeting to order at 8:30am.
The Chamber Reviewed the minutes from the previous month. The minutes were approved with minor changes in spelling.
Treasurer Donna Wesselman reported on her meeting with Urban Planner Craig Gossman. Mr.Gossman posed several questions to the Chamber regarding a unified theme and vision that would propel the future design of village zoning and traffic flow. He also advised Chamber members and village residents to investigate funding and tax credits available to owners of historic architecture. Mr.Gossman also stated that the Chamber is eligible for more grants than the village.
-Glendale Heritage Preservation President Ralph Hoop concurred with Mr.Gossman; that the plan remains in line with the execution of the State Grant for the Village Square Renewal.
-Councilmember Debbie Grueninger also calls for the plan to be holistic to the community it serves and called for a parking study to be conducted.
-Councilmember Jenny Kilgore stressed the need for a unified plan that would be drafted by both the village Council and the Chamber.
-Chamber Board Member Susan Kreuzmann stated that the Chamber has the responsibility to lead in the commencement of the Glendale Village Plan.
-Chamber Treasurer Donna Wesselman would like a special brainstorm session with the Chamber Board Members to solidify the Chamber’s stance on the Village Square Renewal.
Several different methods for promoting the village and upcoming Street Fair were pitched: Advertising on local radio WNKV, Handbills placed in food bags at the local Grocers and the possibility of guided tours through the village were stated as possible avenues for the future.
Street Fair Coordinator Gail Denise stated that she is working with organizers of the Wyoming Art Show to help design the look and feel of the Street Fair this year. The fair will sponsor an Art Show with 40 plus local artists exhibiting work. She will source Glendale resident Jack Howard for his expertise in organizing the Glendale Art Show in the past. The musical theme for this year is Smooth Jazz. She is currently hard at work sourcing food and gaming booths for the Street Fair.
The next chamber meeting is scheduled for August 13th at 8:30am at the Glendale Heritage Preservation Depot Museum located at #44 Village Square.
