General Meeting Wednesday, September 16, 2009 GHP Depot
Attending: Gail Denise, Sherri Kohnle, Beth Lauter, Robin Thomas, Donna Wesselman, John Smith, Dave Agricola, Scott Stacey, Ralph Hoop, Joe Hubbard, Shane Terrell, Jack Buescher, Justin Bifro, Susan Kreuzmann, Catherine Fitzgerald and Stacy Dietrich.
Meeting opened by Gail with an introduction of Shane Terrell. Gail also distributed the meeting agenda.
Donna distributed the treasurer’s report to all present. Checking account balance $6968.14; Savings account balance $2920.72; total balance $9888.86.
Gail reported that at present there are 32 members of the chamber.
Street Fair is at 72 total booths. Gail thanked Ralph Hoop and GHP for sponsoring carriage rides at the street fair. The carriage will be pulled by Clydesdales and will seat up to 12.
Committee Updates
Marketing: Dave Agricola presented a rough draft of the village business map that is currently being designed by Pink Ink. The map will be financed by the businesses listed on the map. Chamber members are required to pay $75. , non-members $100. This will cover the cost of the map production. To produce 10,000 maps it is necessary to raise $1600. It is hoped that the brochure will be able to be updated as necessary.
Currently, 12 businesses have paid. Dave requested that we receive checks by September 30th so that the map can be ready to distribute by the 2nd week in October.
Businesses outside of the Glendale area can participate and the map will indicate their location in relation to Glendale.
Dave announced that the sign at Willow and Sharon has been temporarily changed as discussed at our August meeting.
Joe Hubbard invited all present to attend the public meeting of EDC regarding the signage plans underway. The meeting will be at the Village office at 4:30 Thursday, September 17.
Economic Development: Catherine Fitzgerald introduced Stacy Dietrich , who will be working with her and with Glendale. Catherine informed the chamber of an upcoming training session. The possible topic will be how to use social media; internet, Facebook, Twitter, etc. She hopes to organize for sometime in October and it will be free of charge.
Membership: Gail reported that membership stands at 32. She would like to see 40 members by year’s end. She prepared invoices for businesses that she has personally called on but from whom she has not yet heard. She asked those present to take 3 invoices of businesses that they would be willing to approach to give another face and perspective to the reasons to join chamber. Gail showed the membership folder she has assembled and the thank you mug that will be received by all members.
Christmas Event: The village and chamber will join to sponsor a Glendale Holiday Event on Wednesday, December 2 from 5-8 pm. Sherri Kohlne graciously offered to serve as chair of the event.
General: Gail addressed her recent request that Wally Cordes establish a deadline or schedule for the village quarterly newsletter. The schedule is as follows:

Gail requested that any business wanting to be in the winter issue, please submit a size ad to her before deadline., September 30.
Finally, Gail asked if any members would be willing to sponsor chamber after hours. Several members offered so she will pursue.
