Meeting opened by Gail and she announced a new member to the Chamber; Aqua Tech Pools. A health benefit offered by the Chamber was Aqua Tech’s primary reason for joining.
Wally Cordes introduced Cathy Deters of Energy Alliances. Cathy asked Wally if she could address the chamber regarding the services Energy Alliance can offer to Glendale businesses and chamber members.
Energy Alliances serves to provide the consumer an alternative to Duke by providing lower energy costs for some businesses based on its ability to network with retail energy suppliers based at the customer’s account level.
Following questions and a general discussion, Cathy thanked the Chamber for its time. Gail and Wally made themselves available should any member like to get in touch with Cathy for additional information.
Wally reported on the Streetscape project. The timeline is still uncertain and he is keeping in touch with ODOT to continue to encourage the process.
Gail introduced Glendale resident Janet Lawson. Janet has agreed to serve as the 2010 Street Fair chair. Janet will be contacting chamber members to serve as committee chairs.
Gail thanked Janet for her generous offer. The Street Fair will be held on September 25, 2010.
Gail reported on her progress to develop an on line Chamber newsletter. Pink Ink has generously offered to design and create the quarterly edition with input provided by Gail and members.
Glendale resident, Jack Howard, is being asked to design a banner to be displayed on utility poles in the various Glendale business districts.
Brian Smith, Smith Jewelers, has offered to design a new logo for the Chamber.
Gail requested input regarding the topic for the next training luncheon. It was decided that website development and design be the focus.
Committee Updates
Economic Development: In Catherine Fitzgerald’s absence, Gail updated the Chamber on the business signage being provided by the Village. The signs are in production and should be installed in the near future weather allowing.
Food and Wine Festival: Hague Atkinson of by Design Productions reviewed the current status of the event to be held May 14, 15, & 16, 2010 in the square. The Village would serve as sponsor and the details of the event and the village’s participation are pending until Village Council can determine if the funds are available to provide the necessary support services. It is hoped that the decision will be made very soon given the timeline involved.
