The meeting was held at Glendale Heritage Preservation Museum located at #44 Village Square.
Attending: John Smith, Susan Kreuzmann, Donna Wesselman, Robin Thomas, Jenna Schweizer, Diane Meyer, Natalie Lotspeich, Jeff Brannon, Joe Hubbard, Wally Cordes, Jenny Kilgore, Gail Denise and Jack Buescher.
President John Smith called the meeting to order at 8:30 am
John Smith addressed the chamber and reviewed the minutes from July several changes to spelling were made and the minutes were approved.
Donna Wesselman provided the treasurers report stating that the chamber total is currently $7,427. 29.
The Sign committee was announced and will include the following: Joe Hubbard, Jack Buescher, Susan Kreuzmann, Steve Dinnerstein, Robin Thomas, and John Smith.
Jack Buescher brought sign size, coloration and placement issues to be addressed.
Jack also gave an update on the walking tour brochure that will be updated in time for the street fair. The old ads will be removed, the depot hours will be added and the brochure will be printed in color. A business insert will then be added. The cost for printing the inserts will be incurred by Glendale business, not the GHP. Jack also stated the need for volunteers to attend the depot; which would allow the museum to increase its hours.
Urban planner Craig Gossman will meet with Mayor Joe Hubbard and Village Administrator, Wally Cordes to discuss plans for the upcoming renewal of the village square.
Gail Denise provided the Street Fair report: Wally Cordes has been named as the Fair’s marketing director. There will be posters signs and banners printed marking the event. A promotional postcard has already been mailed and a press release will be made. Landmark Baptist will sponsor a children’s area. There will be a double dutch team, an unicyclist, caricature artists and carnival food as well. Jeff Brannon stated that food will be served to the runners participating in the Running Spot/ Black Squirrel 5K Run/ Walk. Robin Thomas will donate a store front to house the work of over 30 local artists. Ms. Thomas also stated that the Iron Horse will be open in time for the street fair. Jenny Kilgore announced that the Centennial Garden Club will sponsor the Wonderful Wheelbarrow Raffle. Local merchants are asked to donate an item to the wheelbarrow. Donna Wesselman will have a booth featuring attire from her shop Bella Donna. There will also be several jewelry booths. Music will be provided by Rob Allgeyer. The musical theme this year is smooth jazz. Robin Thomas stated the need for a diagram of the street fair to supply to attendees locating and highlighting booths and attractions. Wally Cordes will expedite the liquor license. John Smith will arrange the supplemental insurance to cover the event.
The next Chamber of Commerce meeting will be held September 17 at 8:30am at the Glendale Heritage Preservation Depot Museum located at #44 Village Square.
